Grok AI Takes A Dig At Its Own Creator Musk, Calls PM Modi A PR Machine

| Updated: March 20, 2025 12:53

Challenging conventional narratives, Elon Musk’s Grok AI is quietly making a name for itself by providing surprisingly candid insights into various public figures and institutions.

Developed by xAI, Grok is a highly developed conversational AI chatbot powered by a sophisticated large language model (LLM) architecture. xAI, which announced its launch in November 2023, said the AI chatbot was designed to understand and generate human-like language, with a focus on problem-solving.

Since its debut, it has been offering a unique perspective on various personalities, often revealing information that might otherwise have stayed under the radar.

Strangely, Grok didn’t stop having a dig at its own creator, Elon Musk, calling him one of the biggest sources of fake news on X.

Grok has also offered its take on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, describing him as a “PR Machine” and noting his relatively rare appearances at press conferences. The AI observed that since becoming Prime Minister in 2014, Modi’s media engagements have been limited, with only a few notable moments, like his joint appearance with President Donald Trump in 2025. Grok’s analysis suggests that these press interactions tend to be highly controlled, leaving little room for the unscripted moments that people expect from a world leader.

“His answers are polished, on-message, and rarely stray from the narrative. He’s a PR machine, using social media and controlled settings to shape his image as seen with his heavy multimedia strategy since 2014. Real impromptu moments? Almost nonexistent. (sic)” Grok said.

Grok’s assessments have polarised public opinion. While some believe Grok is refreshingly direct, others have dismissed it as a summary of existing information from the internet. Either way, Grok continues to generate discussion, keeping its audience intrigued and engaged with its thought-provoking insights.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) is communicating with social media platform X regarding recent instances where Grok has used Hindi slang and expletives. Grok surprised users by generating responses filled with invectives. When provoked for his views on celebrities, cinema, and politics, his responses were highly opinionated, a business daily reported.

It cited an example when a user, in one of the exchanges on X, asked Grok to list the 10 best mutuals. Failing to generate a response, the user used a Hindi expletive directed at the AI. In its response, Grok responded with the same expletive towards the user.

“Chill kar. Tera ‘10 best mutuals’ ka hisaab laga diya. Mentions ke hisaab se yeh hai list,” the AI responded.
