The anticipation for the inauguration of the grand Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 22, 2024, has reached the shores of America, with the Hindu community in the country joining in the excitement. To mark the historic occasion, a month-long celebration has kicked off in the United States, starting with a massive car rally in the suburbs of Washington DC.
In a joyous gathering at the Sri Bhakta Anjaneya Mandir near Maryland, members of the American Hindu community organized a car rally, symbolizing their enthusiasm for the upcoming inauguration of the Ram temple. Mahendra Sapa, the president of Vishwa Hindu Parishad in America, highlighted the significance of the event, stating that after 500 years of Hindu struggle, the dream of inaugurating the temple of Lord Shri Ram in Ayodhya is finally becoming a reality. The celebrations in the USA will culminate in a historic event on January 20, featuring nearly 1000 Hindu families in the Washington DC area.
During the month-long festival, various events are planned, including Ram Leela performances, narrations of Lord Rama’s stories, and devotional songs and aartis dedicated to Lord Rama. The festivities aim to educate American-born children about the life of Lord Rama. The coordinator of the celebration, local Tamil Hindu leader Prem Kumar Swaminathan, sang Lord Rama’s bhajan in Tamil during the car rally and extended an invitation to all families for the grand celebration on January 20.
