Adani Group to invest USD 25 billion in Gujarat, announces world’s largest green energy park.
Gautam Adani, the chairman of the Adani Group, announced a massive investment of over Rs. 2 lakh crore (USD 25 billion) in Gujarat over the next five years, creating more than 100,000 jobs in various sectors. He also unveiled his plan to build the world’s largest green energy park in Khavda, Kutch, which will generate 30 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy over an area of 725 square kilometres.
Adani made these announcements at the 10th Vibrant Gujarat Summit, where he delivered a keynote address in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, and other dignitaries and delegates from partner countries.
In his speech, Adani praised Modi’s visionary leadership, both at the national and international level, and credited him with transforming India’s industrial landscape and creating a more inclusive world order. He cited the impressive statistics of India’s economic growth and development in the past decade, despite the challenges of geopolitical conflicts and the pandemic.
He also lauded Modi’s initiatives such as the Solar Alliance and the inclusion of the Global South in the G20 platform, which he said set a benchmark for global cooperation and sustainability. He expressed his confidence that Modi’s foresight in harnessing India’s youth and making India a fully developed nation by 2047 would ensure that India would shape the global future.
Adani also expressed his pride in being part of the Vibrant Gujarat Summit, which he said was a stunning manifestation of grand ambition, massive scale, meticulous governance, and flawless execution. He said that the summit had ignited a nationwide movement, as states competed and cooperated to attract investments and boost their economies.
He said that he had surpassed his previous commitment of investing over Rs. 55,000 crore by 2025 in Gujarat, and had created more than 25,000 direct and indirect jobs across various sectors. He said that he was delighted to announce his further investments, which would include the construction of the world’s largest green energy park, which would be visible even from space.
He said that the park would be part of the largest integrated renewable energy ecosystem, which would also include solar panels, wind turbines, hydrogen electrolysers, green ammonia, PVC, and expansions in copper and cement production. He said that this would expand the green supply chain for an “Atmanirbhar” (self-reliant) Bharat and contribute to the global fight against climate change.
He concluded his speech by thanking Modi, Patel, and the people of Gujarat for their support and trust, and said that he looked forward to working with them to make Gujarat and India shine on the world stage.
