It appears that in India, no TrueBlue law enforcer, howsoever insignificant, will let a potential bribing opportunity go by without encashing the same.
The animal catchers hired by the Gnadhinagar Municipal Corporation through an outsourcing agency proved just that. Manoj alias Bablu Shanaji Thakor and Bunty Jayantibhai Waghela, animal catcher and driver in the Stray cattle Control team in Gandhinagar were caught by Anti Corruption Bureau redhanded while accepting a bribe of Rs. 15000/-
A complainant had approached the ACB saying that the duo, whose duty is to capture and engage the stray cattle in Gandhinagar during the night had demanded Rs.15000/- from him for leaving the stray cows untouched by the authorities. The amount of rs.15000 was arrived at being Rs.5000 each for five persons.
Manoj alias Bablu Shanaji Thakor was hired by a contract agency, Khadi Parishad, Gramodhyog, Ahmedabad.
The Anti Corruption Bureau has registered a case of as per sections 7,12 and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 against both the culprits.
