The G-20 Employment Working Group has officially begun its three-day conference in Jodhpur, focusing on crucial labour, employment, and social issues for inclusive, sustainable, and job-rich growth. The conference was attended by representatives from 19 countries, the European Union, and 9 guest countries, along with a number of international organisations, including the World Bank, NITI Aayog, and the International Labour Organization.
On the first day, the discussions centred on building a framework for common skill taxonomies and examining global skills strategies, with a cultural program and dinner held at the Umaid Bhawan Palace. The second day’s sessions included “Overview of G20-2023 Indian Presidency Agenda,” “Addressing Global Skills Gaps,” and “Gig and Platform Economy and Social Protection.” On the final day, the focus shifted to “Sustainable Financing of Social Security.”
In addition to the conference sessions, delegates were treated to yoga and heritage walk programs, as well as a visit to the Mehrangarh fort. With public participation, major junctions in the city were painted with various themes, and extensive security measures were put in place.
