Four workers died after inhaling toxic fumes at a chemical plant in Dahej, located in Gujarat’s Bharuch district.
The incident occurred on Saturday night at the Gujarat Fluorochemicals Limited facility, where a gas leak from a pipe on the ground floor of the company’s CMS plant caused the workers to fall unconscious, according to Inspector BM Patidar of Dahej police station.
The workers were immediately rushed to a private hospital in Bharuch. Three of them succumbed to the effects of the gas at around 3 am on Sunday, while the fourth died three hours later.
“The leak occurred at approximately 10 pm and all four workers were affected by the fumes. Despite prompt medical attention, they could not be saved,” Inspector Patidar stated.
The bodies of the deceased have been sent for postmortem examinations and an investigation into the cause of the incident is currently underway.
