Former Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was honoured with Netaji Award 2022 by Netaji Research Bureau on Subhash Chandra Bose’s 125th birth anniversary, January 23.
Consul General of Japan in Kolkata Nakamura Yutaka received the award on behalf of Abe at a function in Elgin Road residence of Netaji. The programme was addressed by the Japanese Ambassador to India Satoshi Suzuki virtually from New Delhi.
Director of Netaji Research Bureau and the grand-nephew of Netaji Sugata Bose described Abe as a great admirer of Subhash Chandra Bose.
Every year on January 23, the Subhas Chandra Bose Aapda Prabandhan Puraskar is announced to commemorate Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s birth anniversary. The award comes with a cash prize of 51 lakh and a certificate for an institution and a cash prize of 5 lakh and a certificate for a person.
