If this was not a serious criminal matter, it would be quite funny. When folk singer Kamlesh Barot sang a ‘dayro’ on stage he did not realise that he would be instrumental in putting somebody in jail. The incident happened in Kanjhat village in Padra a few days ago.
The song’s lyrics were as follows: “My brother Sameer is a bootlegger who got liquor from Bharuch”. Sameer alias Yusuf Patel actually danced on the stage while Barot was singing and even showered currency notes on the singer.
The video went viral. The cops got hold of it and Patel was arrested on Sunday for alleged bootlegging activities in Kanjhat village. The police said that they found liquor bottles in his s house.
The police said that they didn’t act against Barot who was singing the liquor song. After the incident, Barot released a video where he said that he was just singing a ‘dayro’ and apologised if he had hurt someone.
