Flipkart, the leading e-commerce platform in India, has launched its own UPI service in partnership with Axis Bank. The service, called Flipkart UPI, aims to provide a convenient and cost-effective payment option for customers across online and offline channels.
With Flipkart UPI, customers can create their own UPI ID on the Flipkart app and use it to pay for their purchases on Flipkart and its group companies, such as Myntra, Flipkart Wholesale, Flipkart Health+, and Cleartrip. They can also use it to pay bills, send money to friends and family, and scan and pay for any QR code, without leaving the Flipkart app.
Flipkart UPI also offers various rewards and benefits for customers, such as Supercoins, Brand Vouchers, and discounts. For instance, customers can get Rs 25 off on their first Flipkart order using Flipkart UPI, and 20 supercoins for their first five transactions using the scan and pay feature.
Flipkart UPI is currently available only for Android users, and will soon be rolled out for iOS users as well. The service will reduce the dependence on third-party UPI apps, such as Amazon Pay, Google Pay, Paytm, and PhonePe, and enhance the customer experience on Flipkart.
Flipkart claims to have more than 50 crore registered users and over 14 lakh sellers on its marketplace. The launch of Flipkart UPI comes at a time when UPI transactions have been growing rapidly in India, reaching 1210 crore in February 2024, with a total value of ₹18.3 crore, up 61% from the same period last year.
