Earlier today, tragedy struck on a highway near Gandhinagar in the Randheja-Pathapur area as five individuals lost their lives in a devastating accident. The deceased were identified as Mohammed Alfaaz, Salman Chauhan, Sahil Chauhan, Mohammed Belim, and Ashfaq Chauhan. Additionally, one person, Shahnawab Chauhan, sustained injuries and was promptly rushed to the civil hospital.
The fatal incident occurred when the driver of the vehicle lost control, causing the car to collide with a tree. The impact resulted in the immediate deaths of the five occupants. The group had been returning to Mansa after attending a movie in Pethapur when the accident tragically occurred.
This incident sheds light on the ongoing challenge of road safety in Gujarat, which holds the tenth position for road accidents in the country, accounting for 3.40% of such incidents. In 2022 alone, a staggering 15,751 deaths were reported due to road accidents in the state. On an average day, Gujarat witnessed 43 road accidents, leading to the loss of approximately 21 lives.
