Close on the heels of the Union Public Services Commission cancelling the candidature of ex-trainee IAS officer Puja Khedkar, the Gujarat Government has swung into action and given orders of inquiry against five IAS officers, who have reportedly faked certificates.
Top sources told Vibes of India that in the BJP’s model state, five IAS officers, including two women, are on the radar of the government for faking various certificates to get to the top. Sources said the inquiry has been initiated following complaints against these officers that they have faked disability certificates.
These officers are likely to undergo medical tests at Ahmedabad’s Civil Hospital and All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.
It is believed that after the IAS officers, inquiry could well be initiated against IPS and Indian Forest Service officers serving in Gujarat.
The issue is being widely discussed in bureaucratic circles.
Though the BJP has been in power in Gujarat for almost three decades, the ruling party appears to be on a backfoot following growing opposition from the Congress and Arvind Kejriwal led Aam Aadmi Party.
Whether it be fee hike in medical colleges or justice for the victims of Rajkot TRP Zone tragedy or even Harni Boat tragedy, the opposition parties have succeeded in cornering the BJP. Following protests, the state government had to partially roll back the fee hike.
While the Congress begins a 15-day Nyay Yatra in Gujarat from August 9, the BJP has announced a Trianga Yatra from August 10 to 13.
