The Gujarat Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) busted a fake telephone exchange in Surat’s Mahidhar Pura area and nabbed two individuals in relation to the case.
The ATS had a tip off that some people were operating a telephone exchange. In a joint operation with the Surat city crime branch, the ATS sleuths raided the place, and it was learned that international calls were being converted into local calls with the help of a SIM box.
Two accused were nabbed in relation to the operation of this bogus telephone exchange. The police have also confiscated one SIM box and 31 SIM cards from the location.
The detained individuals have been identified as Saurabh Sarakar and Prem, alias Boni Bipinchandra Topiwala, and the police are investigating and interrogating these accused individuals. The investigation is likely to lead to several other individuals involved in this scam, police said.
