Gujarat Congress on Wednesday hit out at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government at the state and the centre, claiming that Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi were being framed in fake cases by Enforcement Directorate (ED). The sole purpose of these accusations was to deviate the masses from serious social, economic, and political issues the nation is facing, the party insisted.
“Rahul Gandhi is the voice of the oppressed. Congress party will keep fighting for the issues of the middle class, underprivileged sections, Dalits, Tribal, Adivasi, unemployed youth, and women. Congress workers are guardians of democracy and the Constitution. That is why the BJP is using central agencies and police to quash us,” Congress President Jagdish Thakor said.
More than 30 Congress leaders, including Jagdish Thakor, leader of opposition Sukhram Rathva, former GPCC chief Amit Chavda, spokesperson Manish Doshi along with several MLAs from GMDC ground were detained for protesting without permission in Ahmedabad on Monday.
Hundreds of Congress party workers staged a protest rally to support senior leader Rahul Gandhi and Congress President Sonia Gandhi who were summoned by the ED in New Delhi.
Thakor slammed the BJP government at the alleging that the party is in panic mode as it has received an internal survey report that states it will get only 70 seats out of 182 in the upcoming Gujarat assembly elections scheduled in December.
Furthermore, Thakor stressed that the BJP is in a panic mode and is using police to suppress Congress leaders and ensure that minorities, farmers, women, and unemployed youth don’t agitate against them.
