Three exit polls suggest that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies are likely to secure victory in the Jharkhand assembly election. However, one exit poll predicts a win for the alliance led by Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM).
According to an exit poll by Matrize, the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) may receive 25–30 seats in the 81-seat legislature, while the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is expected to gain 42–47 seats.
A more exit poll conducted by Peoples Pulse predicted that the NDA will win 44–53 seats, leaving the INDIA bloc with 25–37 seats.
According to the Times Now-JVC exit poll, the NDA would win 40–44 seats, while the Grand Alliance would win 30–40. The JMM-led alliance won 53 seats while the NDA won 25 seats in the Axis My India exit poll.
The Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) ran for one seat, the Janata Dal (United) ran for two seats, the All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) ran for 10 seats and the BJP ran for 68 seats.
They ran for 41 seats against Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), 30 seats against the Congress, 6 against the Rashtriya Janata Dal, and 4 against the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist).
The Mahagathbandhan and the BJP-led NDA are the main contenders in Jharkhand.
