Former External Affairs Minister K Natwar Singh passed away on Saturday after a prolonged illness. He was 93.
He was admitted for the past couple of weeks at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram near Delhi. Singh was born in Rajasthan’s Bharatpur district in 1931.
He was an experienced diplomat who contributed an immense amount of diplomatic expertise to his political career. He was also a prolific writer on topics ranging from the technicalities of foreign policy to the life of a maharaja.
He held several positions during his illustrious career and in 1984, he received the Padma Bhushan for his contributions.
“His son is there at the hospital and many more family members are coming to Delhi from his native state for the last rites planned in Delhi. He was not keeping well for some time,” a source close to the family said.
