The Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) organized a public dialogue program in Junagadh on January 11, 2024, to discuss local issues and concerns of the people. The event was attended by a large number of residents, who welcomed GPCC President Shaktisinh Gohil with a motorcycle rally.
A public dialogue program was then organized at the crossroads near the statue of Rani of Jhansi. Gohil, after listening to the questions of the local people, stated that the government was constantly striving for the convenience and help of the common man during the Congress rule in the past.
In his speech, Gohil criticized the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government for neglecting public problems. He pointed out that issues like grazing permits for cattle herders and waterlogging in Junagadh city have worsened under the BJP’s rule. He also criticized the BJP’s handling of the Ram Mandir construction, accusing them of rushing the process for political gain.
Gohil compared the BJP’s approach to Ram Mandir with the teachings of Hindu Sanatan Dharma, where Shankaracharyaji Maharaj holds the highest position and his decisions are final. He said, ‘Shankaracharyaji Maharaj has said that if the work of a temple is not fully completed, it cannot be consecrated.’ He further said that the BJP is ignoring this advice for political benefit.
The GPCC leader asserted that the Congress party respects the sanctity of Ram Mandir and will visit the temple after its completion with Shankaracharyaji’s blessings. He also accused the BJP of exploiting religious sentiments for votes, saying that they “cannot take votes in the name of work, because they have done infamy instead of work.”
Following the public dialogue, Congress leaders led a march and submitted a petition to the Junagadh collector, highlighting the problems faced by the people.
The event was attended by former MP Vikrambhai Madam, MLA Vimalbhai Chudasama, former MLA Arvindbhai Ladani, former MLA Punjabhai Vansh, Bhikhabhai Joshi, Babubhai Waja, Bhikhubhai Varotariya, Chandrikaben Chudasama, Parbatbhai Chavda, Hamirbhai Dhula, Indranil Rajguru, Vice President of the Pradesh Congress Committee Heerabhai Jotva, Chairman of the Farmer Cell Palbhai Ambaliya, President of Junagadh Congress Committee Bharatbhai Amipara, officials of Junagadh district-taluka and other leaders and workers.
