AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi tried to pull at the emotional strings of the voters in Ahmedabad’s Muslim-dominated Jamalpur locality yesterday. Gujarat votes for the second phase on December 5 and Owaisi was campaigning for AIMIM’s Sabir Kabliwala.
Owaisi brought up Bilkis Banu’s plight in his teary-eyed speech. “May Allah make Sabir win so that injustice does not happen to any Bilkis again,” Owaisi said. “We cannot see our daughters helpless,” he said, urging Muslims to vote in large numbers for Kabliwala, who is contesting from Jamalpur Khadia.
Owaisi, whose party has fielded 13 candidates for this Assembly polls, said the Congress was hand-in-glove with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “Modi is monitoring the situation in Jamalpur through binoculars from Delhi,” he said.
