The Election Commission of India announced on Wednesday, June 29 that vice-presidential elections will be held on August 6.
The poll, if necessary will be held on August 6 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the votes will be counted on the same day.
On July 5, the Election Commission will issue a notification calling the election. The deadline for filing nominations is July 19.
The nomination will be scrutinised on July 20, and the application can be withdrawn until July 22.
The term of the incumbent vice president, Venkaiah Naidu, will end in August. The vice president also serves as the chairman of Rajya Sabha (Upper House).
