| Updated: December 21, 2021 21:40

In the election of Galolivasana Gram Panchayat in Chanasma taluka of Patan district, there was an electoral face-off between a mother-son duo for a seat of ward no.4

Mother, Diwaben Somabhai Senma, had filed her campaign trail for the seat of a member of ward no. 4, where she succeeded to gain 47 votes. On the other side, son, Dasharathbhai Somabhai Senma got 18 votes while mother Divaben Senma won with 27 votes. Although a mother-son face-off was seen at the election for the membership, the mother celebrated her victory only with the family including the son.

In the Gram Panchayat elections of Patan district, out of 2 lakh 85 thousand 704 voters, 2 lakh 32 thousand 248 voters exercised their rights and a total of 81.90% votes were cast. The counting of votes started at 9:00 am today at each taluka station. Interestingly, 450 employees have joined the counting process. The pink and white ballot papers of the Sarpanch and Ward candidates were first separated from the ballot box, the two are then being calculated differently. Thus, a large number of members, including candidates and supporters, have been coming to the polling station since this morning. A police cordon has been set up at the polling station.
