Disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs 3.57 crore were recovered by ACB from GPCB’s Class-2 Senior Environmental Engineer, Anil Shah, currently posted in Porbandar. He was appointed Member Secretary of GPCB in 2019.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau conducted a late-night search operation on Thursday on his bungalow in Sola area. A lookout notice has also been issued with the help of central agencies, ACB sources said.
ACB DySP G B Padheria said, “ACB is on a massive drive to take action against corrupt government officials or employees. We received an application against Anil Shah of GPCB and initiated the investigation step by step.”
The application against Shah listed 19 complaints of which the main was about misuse of power and disproportionate property worth Rs 5.75 crore. This made ACB investigate his tenure during 2006-2020. He has worked in Vapi, Vadodara and Ankleshwar. ACB got the information during investigation that Shah had, apart from his legal income, accumulated Rs 3.57 crore other income.
Most of his service years have been in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar.
