Passengers flying from Surat International Airport are expected to get a faster and seamless experience at the Aiport with Digi Yatra facility expected to start soon.
The Surat International Airport took to social media to announce that the installation of Digi Yatra is under progress and it will be operational very soon. It said that it will facilitate passengers for fast and efficient security clearance.
Digi Yatra is an initiative by the Ministry of Civil Aviation that aims to streamline air travel in India by using recognition technology for seamless and paperless identification and verification at the airports.
Once implemented, Surat will become the second airport after Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport to have Digi Yatra facility. More than 20 airports in India have this facility.
The passengers first download the Digi Yatra app and register using their Aadhar details. They then capture a selfie and link it to their Aadhar details. The boarding pass is added to the application before the flight. The application is used at the aiport to verify their identity at various checkpoints using facial recognition.
