The severe pollution in the capital has compelled former Congress president Sonia Gandhi to move to Jaipur till the situation in New Delhi is under control.
She made the decision on the advice of her doctors.
It may be recalled that a few years ago, Sonia Gandhi had to stop a road rally in Uttar Pradesh owing to severe dust and has to be rushed to a hospital.
The Hindustan Times reported that a senior Congress leader said that her visit to Jaipiur is a personal one and it’s not related to the assembly elections, scheduled in Rajasthan on November 25.
“This is not the first time she has left Delhi to avoid pollution. She has asthma-related issues and tries to avoid pollution. In 2020, she went to Goa for weeks when there was severe pollution in Delhi,” the leader was quoted as saying.
Another leader told the paper. “A couple of times, she had to be admitted to Delhi’s Sir Ganga Ram Hospital due to asthma.”
