Delhi police are expected to file a charge sheet next week in a case filed against author Arundhati Roy and a former professor in Kashmir under the strict Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for her alleged provocative speeches in 2010, official sources said on Tuesday.
Roy and Sheikh Showkat Hussain, a former professor at the Central University of Kashmir, were charged for allegedly making provocative remarks on October 21, 2010, during a conference held at the LTG Auditorium, Copernicus Marg, under the name Azadi – The Only Way.
In accordance with the directives of the Court of Metropolitan Magistrate, New Delhi, an FIR was filed at Tilak Marg Police Station in response to a complaint submitted by Kashmiri social activist Sushil Pandit.
Later, the matter was sent to the Crime Branch of the Delhi Police for further investigation.
Official sources claim that the Crime Branch has put together a thousand-page charge sheet against Roy and Hussain based on several recordings and forensic evidence.
According to the reports, the police have mentioned over a dozen eyewitness statements.
The sources also stated that, as part of the investigations, forensic reports on the videos that appeared on social media have also been provided.
