Delhi MLA Atishi Garners Over Rs 19 Lakh in 24 Hours Through Crowdfunding

| Updated: January 13, 2025 18:57

Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate from Kalkaji, Atishi, has raised Rs 19,32,728 in online donations within 24 hours of launching a crowdfunding campaign. The campaign, aimed at funding her assembly election campaign, seeks to raise Rs 40 lakh in total.

The AAP donation portal revealed contributions from 455 individuals as of Monday. Expressing gratitude for the overwhelming response, Atishi took to X (formerly Twitter) to share her happiness.

“I am truly overwhelmed by the incredible response to my crowdfunding campaign on Day 1. This huge success is a reflection of people’s unwavering faith in the Aam Aadmi Party’s clean, honest, and transformative politics. Do keep the momentum going by spreading the word!” she wrote.

The crowdfunding initiative was launched on Sunday with an online portal link for supporters to contribute.

Addressing the purpose behind the campaign, Atishi explained, “People donated money to support Aam Aadmi Party’s honest politics. We don’t take money from big businessmen for elections. AAP government works for the common people. For my election from Kalkaji, I am launching a crowdfunding campaign for Rs 40 lakh, which I need for the election. People can donate any amount they want.”

In her appeal on social media, Atishi emphasised the importance of public support in her political career. She wrote, “As a young, educated woman, your belief and donations have enabled me to imagine a career in politics – a path I couldn’t have walked alone. Now, as we face another election campaign, I need your support once again. Please contribute to my crowdfunding campaign.”

Atishi is contesting against BJP candidate and former MP Ramesh Bidhuri in the Kalkaji constituency. The Delhi Assembly election, involving all 70 constituencies, is scheduled for February 5, with results to be declared on February 8.
