In a defamation case brought by Eknath Shinde faction leader and Member of Parliament (MP) Rahul Ramesh Shewale, the Delhi high court on Tuesday issued summonses to Uddhav Thackeray and his son Aaditya Thackeray.
Sanjay Raut was also served with a summon in the case by the court. Rahul Shewale, the plaintiff, claims that Uddhav Thackeray, Aaditya Thackeray, and Sanjay Raut fabricated baseless accusations of corruption against the Shiv Sena and its members.
Sanjay Raut and Thackeray are accused of saying that the Eknath Shinde faction spent Rs 2000 crores to acquire the Shiv Sena symbol, according to the defamation suit.
The Delhi High Court bench presided over by Justice Prateek Jalan heard the defamation suit filed by Shewale.
The court admitted the suit after hearing from senior lawyer Rajiv Nayar, who represented the plaintiff and issued summonses to Sanjay Raut, Uddhav, and Aaditya Thackeray, directing them to respond to all pertinent issues.
