CBDT Extends Due Date For Filing IT Returns Till March 15
In a piece of good news for tax payers, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has extended the deadline for filing of Income Tax Returns for the assessment year 2021-22 to March 15, 2022.
A press release from the Finance Ministry on Tuesday read,” On consideration of difficulties reported by the taxpayers and other stakeholders due to Covid and in electronic filing of various reports of audit under the provisions of the Income-tax Act, 1961 (the Act), the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has decided to further extend the due dates for filing of Income Tax Returns and various reports of audit for the Assessment Year 2021-22.”
The due date of furnishing a report of audit and a report of an accountant has been extended till 15th February, 2022 whereas the due date of furnishing of Return of Income Tax for the Assessment Year 2021-22 has been extended to 15th March, 2022.
The last date for filing returns was December 31, 2021.
