Mahendra Singh Dhoni underwent successful surgery on his left knee on Thursday in a hospital in Mumbai, increasing his chances of competing in the 17th season of the Indian Premier League next year.
After the final on Monday, Dhoni took a flight from Ahmedabad to Mumbai, where he met with renowned sports orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala, who is also a member of the BCCI medical panel and has operated on a number of top Indian cricketers, including Rishabh Pant. Dhoni had led Chennai Super Kings to their fifth IPL championship.
“Yes, Dhoni had a successful knee operation on Thursday at the Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai. The procedure took place in the morning, and he is recovering well. I lack specifics. Kasi Viswanathan, CEO of CSK stated.
We have learned that Dhoni has already been released from the hospital following an “arthroscopic repair” keyhole procedure.
He was already released from the hospital and had returned to Ranchi. He will take a few days to recover at home before beginning his long therapy. According to a source close to CSK, it is currently anticipated that he will have ample time to prepare physically for the upcoming IPL.
When Dhoni looked totally great when wicket-keeping the entire season, he occasionally came into bat as low as No. 8 and didn’t appear to be in his element while sprinting between the wickets. Viswanathan had stated on Wednesday that it will entirely be Dhoni’s decision whether to get surgery.
The greatest time to announce retirement, in Dhoni’s opinion, is right after the IPL championship. I’ll just say thanks and go, which is the simple thing to do. To work hard for nine months and attempt to play in one more IPL season, though, is a difficult task. The body must support the load. However, it would be a blessing for them to play another season given the level of support I have received from CSK fans.
“I need to do it for them because of the love and emotion they have shown. The last phase of my career is this. My name was being chanted by everyone when it started over here. The situation was the same in Chennai, but it will be excellent to return and participate in any way I can. They believe they can play the style of cricket I play. It’s not conventional, and I want to keep things straightforward.” Dhoni said.
