Daman police have arrested three people in connection with the thrashing of a teenager by stripping him naked in public on charges of theft. Repercussions are serious after a video of the teenager being subjected to inhumane treatment went viral.
Police however, could not find the victim yet. Police have become the complainant and have started investigation in this case by looking for the teen victim.
In Daman’s Bamanpuja area, a teenager in was allegedly robbed by a mob and beaten mercilessly in public. The men around kicked and slapped the teenager while standing on his feet.
The video went viral on social media after some people stripped him naked, tied him to a pole and beat him mercilessly. People’s faces were also seen in this video. However, since victim did not reach the police station after the video went viral, the incident took a serious turn. Ankit Patel, Dilip Patel and Naresh Patel, who were seen beating the teenager in the video, have been identified and arrested.
The mob, accusing the minor of theft, did not show any humanity. If a minor was caught stealing, they could have handed him over to the police. But people took the law into their own hands and beat the teenager naked and tied him to a pole.
The video also shows a man in khaki clothes who is not a police officer but a guard of the excise department. So the police are looking for him too.
The three main culprits in this whole scandal have been arrested by the Daman police. However, Daman police have not yet been able to reach the victim. Daman police has also enlisted the help of Valsad police and has stepped up its investigation to find the victim teenager and has appealed to the people not to take the law into their own hands under any circumstances and to contact the police immediately.
The society and the law must never become judge themselves and tolerate the Talibani sentence afflicted to the juvenile. Daman police is trying to identify the minor and is in touch with Gujarat police. Vibes of India also condemns such incident.
