In India, the number of COVID cases has seen a sudden upsurge. At IIT-Madras, 11 more students tested positive, bringing the number of COVID cases to 183. A bulletin released by the central government mentions that the country reported 3,377 new corona cases within 24 hours on Friday.
The number of cases in India is 4,30,72,176, and the death toll has risen to 5,23,753. With an increase of 821 cases, India’s active case has crossed the 17,000 mark. According to the government bulletin, India’s government has conducted more than 83.69 crore tests for COVID, out of which 4,73,635 tests happened in the last 24 hours.
The recovery rate in India is currently 98.74%. With 2,496 recoveries in the last 24 hours, the total number of people recovered from the disease has risen to 4,25,30,622. According to data provided by the ministry, the daily positivity rate in India is 0.71%. While the weekly positivity rate is now 0.63%.
The total number of vaccine doses given in India under the nationwide vaccination campaign has reached 193.28 crores.
