Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Health Minister, evaluated the covid response mock drill on Tuesday at the Safdarjung Hospital, which is operated by the centre, to assess its preparation to handle any rise in the number of coronavirus patients.
The Center has requested that states and union territories hold practice exercises at all covid hospitals as a precaution due to an increase in COVID-19 cases in various nations. “I reviewed the Covid response mock drill at Safdarjung Hospital. This mock drill was necessary to know how prepared our hospitals are,” the minister said.
“Covid cases are rising all over the world and India might witness a spike in cases too. Hence it is important that the entire Covid infrastructure in terms of equipment, processes and human resources are at a state of operational readiness”, he stated.
Mandaviya stressed the need for clinical preparation in hospitals while pointing out that both government and commercial institutions are conducting mock drills. The drills in each state are being evaluated by the health ministries.

He cautioned against laziness and advised everyone to behave appropriately. He also urged people to be well prepared and to avoid spreading untrue information. The minister went to the hospital’s 44-bed covid centre, the triage and testing section that had been established by the hospital, and the temporary facility’s Severe Acute Respiratory Infection ward. The health minister also spoke with hospital administrators and gave them instructions on how to be ready for any future outbreaks.
