There are whispers within the Gujarat Police department that a police inspector from Vadodara’s Manjalpur Police Station, identified as Vijay Desai, was recently transferred to the Special Branch because he stopped an event organised by a local BJP leader.
According to reports, BJP corporator Kalpesh Patel alias Jai Ranchhod had organised an event in Manjalpur without police permission.
The event was held at Eva Mall and was related to the renovation of two ancient temples of Bhadrakali and Mahakali Mata located in Panigate Old Garhi area in Vadodara.
Reports said that a police convoy led by Inspector Vijay Desai arrived at the venue and demanded that a road that was shut by the event organisers be reopened for the public. He allegedly also demanded to see the police permission, and hours later, was sent to the Special Branch.
Neither Desai nor Kalpesh Patel were available for comment.
