Arun Bansal, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Adani Airport Holdings Ltd., remarked today that the company is highly eager about acquiring additional airports through government bidding.
This is the policy agenda, but we are eager to purchase new airports, according to the CEO of Adani Airports. Bansal spoke after Assocham named Lucknow and Ahmedabad airports as the finest regional airports.
He said, “This is the policy agenda. This needs to see the next round of bidding when the government decides to go and we of course to ambition to try for new acquisitions.”
Seven airports are currently under the management of the Adani airport holding company. He did, however, express his confidence in the expansion of the Indian aviation sector, predicting that 900 million passengers would be using Indian airports within the next five to 10 years.
“Before the Covid pandemic, around 300 million passengers flew from Indian airports. This number will grow thrice in the next five to ten years. So there is tremendous potential for growth in the aviation sector in India,” he added.
In order to accommodate the increase in travellers, he said, “Airport is playing a vital role in ensuring that the consumer can use the facility of the airport.”
When questioned about the issue of airport congestion that causes stress to the passengers during their flight trip, Bansal responded, “We handle congestion issues very well. Of course the passenger growth at the airports was significant post Covid because of the demand. Pre-covid we haven’t seen any issues of congestion at the airports we have planned. We have investors digitisation at our airports with which we are able to manage the passenger flow. The seamless flow is the outcome of us handling the congestion very well.”
