Assailing the opposition Congress and Janata Dal-Secular (JDS) in Karnataka as the “biggest obstacle” to the state’s progress and development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on them on Sunday.
Ahead of the May 10 Assembly elections, PM Modi said during a public rally in the Kolar district that the people of Karnataka will “clean bowl” the two parties and give the BJP an overwhelming mandate.
The Congress, according to PM Modi, is operating with an “outdated” engine that has fallen short of its promises. He stated that the Congress had disregarded Karnataka’s farmers, young people, women, and the poor. He criticised the Congress as well for its “dynastic” politics and scandals involving corruption.
Modi compared the performance of the Congress with that of his own central government, which he claimed had brought unprecedented development and welfare programmes to Karnataka in the last five years. He claimed that the state’s infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, and rural development were given top priority by his government.
“We have worked hard to transform Karnataka. We have given a new direction and momentum to its growth. We have ensured that every citizen gets the benefits of our schemes. We have made Karnataka a hub of innovation and entrepreneurship,” PM Modi said.
He urged voters to give the BJP another chance to win power in Karnataka, claiming that it is the only party capable of realising their hopes and dreams. Taking Karnataka to new heights, he claimed, the BJP has a clear vision and a powerful leadership.
“I urge you to vote for the BJP and make it victorious in Karnataka. We have a proven track record of good governance and development. We have a dedicated team of workers who will serve you with honesty and sincerity,” PM Modi said.
The PM’s rally in Kolar came two weeks after Rahul Gandhi’s, in which the Congress leader retaliated against the BJP for his disqualification from the parliament due to remarks he made about the ‘Modi surname’ on the same site in 2019.
