A young life was tragically cut short on Saturday as 18-year-old Priyansh Modi, a first-year IT student at Silver Oak College in Sola, lost his life in an auto rickshaw accident. The incident occurred near Croma on the busy SG Highway at around noon.
Priyansh, along with his friends Manish Chaudhari and Nirav Virani, were on their way to Thaltej Metro Station when the speeding auto driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn. Priyansh sustained severe head injuries in the crash and was rushed to Sola Hospital. Due to the gravity of his injuries, he was subsequently transferred to Zydus Hospital, where he unfortunately succumbed to his wounds.
The news of Priyansh’s passing has shaken the Silver Oak College community, with friends and faculty remembering him as a bright and cheerful student. A resident of Odhav, Priyansh lived with his parents and is survived by his father, Hitesh Modi, who works as a school van driver.
Adding to the tragedy, another student on the auto sustained injuries in the accident and received medical attention at a nearby hospital. Meanwhile, SG-1 police station has registered an offense against the auto driver, Rahul, and an investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
This tragic incident once again highlights the dangers of speeding and reckless driving. Priyansh’s death serves as a stark reminder for all road users to prioritize safety and adhere to traffic rules.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Priyansh’s family and friends during this difficult time. May his memory be a blessing.
