Meteorologist Paresh Goswami, in his weather forecast for Gujarat, has said that currently, the winds in the region are coming from the north to northeast, with some areas possibly experiencing northwest winds. He also mentioned that there could be fog in some parts during the last week of December.
Goswami predicted that from December 25 to 28, there will be light to moderate rainfall in several areas of Gujarat, which may be intense in some regions. The sky is expected to be overcast in many places.
On his social media, Goswami shared his predictions for the weather in Gujarat. He said, “Currently, the wind speed is normal in Gujarat, and it is expected to remain so in the coming days. However, where there is rainfall, the wind speed may increase.”
He further elaborated, “The winds will remain from the north to northeast, with some places experiencing northwest winds. During the last week of December, fog could occur in some areas.”
Regarding the cold weather, Goswami said, “There will be no relief from the cold until December 31. The cold will intensify in January, with a possible cold wave during the first half of the month. The temperatures could break all cold records between January 1 and 15.”
He warned that the rainfall during winter could cause harm to farmers, particularly due to the rain expected from the 25th evening. Goswami mentioned that this rainfall will come from the southeastern regions of Tamil Nadu towards the northwest.
In northern Gujarat, areas like Sabarkantha, Banaskantha, Mehsana, and Patan may experience heavy rainfall. The intensity of rainfall may be stronger in areas bordering Madhya Pradesh and Pakistan. Areas like Vav, Tharad, Diyodar, Dhanera, Thawar and Nainawa are expected to experience more intense rainfall. Strong rainfall is also likely in places like Panthawada, Iqbalgarh, Amirgad, Idar, and Vadali.
The effects of this rainfall will be felt between December 25 and 28. In areas like Aravalli, Mahisagar, Dahod, Chhota Udaipur and Godhra, heavy rainfall is likely. South Gujarat’s areas like Navsari, Dang and Tapi are expected to see light to moderate rainfall.
In central Gujarat, areas like Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Kapadvanj, Anand and Nadiad may experience heavy clouds and light rainfall at some locations.
This forecast has raised concerns among farmers as the rainfall might cause damage to crops.
In Saurashtra, Goswami mentioned that while there is little risk of heavy rainfall in Kutch, some light showers may be seen in Surendranagar. Areas like Amreli, Bhavnagar, Botad and Surendranagar are not expected to experience intense rainfall. There is also no significant risk of heavy rainfall in other areas of Saurashtra, but dense clouds may form.
In Kutch, scattered showers may occur in certain places. However, in places like Rapar, Dholavira and Samkhiyal, there is little likelihood of significant rainfall, though dense clouds may form. There is also a possibility of overcast skies in areas like Naliya and Nakhtrana, but no heavy rainfall is expected.
