Central Licensing Approval Authority (CLAA) has granted permission to the blood centre of the Sayaji hospital, Vadodara. It is the first blood centre of government hospitals in Gujarat to acquire the grant. In addition to this, it would enable the hospitals to set up a bone marrow transplant unit.
Ranjan Krishna Aiyar, Medical Superintendent of Sayaji hospital, verified CLAA’s information to food and drug regulatory bodies. They have also added the permission required for two new blood products to the existing licence.
According to him, the permission paved the way for setting up a bone marrow transplant unit at Sayaji Hospital. The special significance of the centre is its updated treatments. He lauded the team leader and co-professor of the Blood Center, Farzana Kothari, and her team. Moreover, the CLAA has approved two new products in Blood Components through the apheresis procedure.
