The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Gujarat held its annual meeting on Wednesday. The theme of the meeting was ‘Rising Gujarat: State Agenda for India at 2047.’
In the annual meeting, Anand Desai, Managing Director of Anupam Rasayan India Ltd was appointed as the Chairman of CII, Gujarat. He took over from Vinod Agrawal of Arunaya Organics Pvt Ltd. Darshan Shah of Hitachi Hi-Rel Power Electronics Pvt Ltd. was appointed as the Vice-Chairman of CII Gujarat in the presence of captains of the Industry.
In his opening address Immediate past Chairman of CII-Gujarat, Vinod Agrawal talked at length about the work done under his leadership. He called CII, Gujarat as the platform for partnerships.
B Thiagarajan Chairman, CII Western Region & Managing Director, Blue Star Ltd lauded the commendable job by CII. He said we need to chalk out focus areas for India of 2047.
Founder and Director of Centre for Environment Education, Kartikeya Sarabhai touched upon important issues relating to Climate change, Hunger Index, Malnutrition, and Gender equality among others. He stressed the need to seriously work on these issues to see a prosperous and happy India in 2047.
Founder and CMD of Symphony Limited, Achal Bakeri started his speech with a quote from Lord Byron. He said,” the best prophet of the future is the past.” He talked at length about how the rich trade links of Gujarat can help weave a dream of future Gujarat.
Tolhah Ubaidi Consul Economics, Consulate General of Indonesia, took everyone down memory lane by giving the historical background of trade links between Gujarat and Indonesia. He talked about the growing comprehensive partnership between India and Indonesia.
Dr. Valsan Vethody Consul General of Sri Lanka in Mumbai highlighted the growing partnership between India and Srilanka. He said, “⅓ of Sri Lanka’s Petrol needs are fulfilled by Indian Oil Corporation, Indian companies have majorly invested in Srilanka. And the relationship between the two countries is growing.”
Piyush Tamboli Past Chairman, CII Gujarat State Council, and CMD of Investment & Precision Castings Ltd released a Coffee table book ‘Pride of Gujarat’.
In one of the discussions at the event, Piruz Khambatta Past Chairman, CII Western Regional Council, and CMD of Rasna Pvt Ltd said, ” Earlier you had to show what Gujarat is but after Vibrant Gujarat and other industrial development, that has changed.” Talking about vision 2047 he said, Manufacturing sector will give India the edge. He stressed the need for next-level reforms which should not come in pieces.
CII Gujarat is doing a great job to bring positive change in industry and recommend required changes to authorities. ?
