Singer Chris Martin of the British band Coldplay visited Maha Kumbh 2025 at Prayagraj during his visit to India last month. A new video circulating on social media shows him and his partner, actor Dakota Johnson, taking a holy dip at the Sangam.
The video was shared by a fan on Instagram who was also performing the ritual when he spotted Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson.
In the video, the two can be seen folding their hands and greeting other devotees. The video was captioned, “When you can’t go to the concert, the artist comes to you—at Kumbh Mela! Took a Sangam Snan with none other than Coldplay’s Chris Martin and Dakota, who followed every ritual with deep respect. Music unites, but faith transcends. Har har Mahadev (sic)!”
Chris Martin was seen wearing black shorts, while Dakota Johnson was dressed in a printed cotton kurta over a pair of orange trousers. At one point in the video, the singer is seen greeting the partner of the man who recorded and uploaded the footage online.
It is believed that Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson took an early morning dip in the confluence of the Ganga and Yamuna rivers. Earlier, another video of the two had gained attention, showing Chris Martin inside his car making funny faces while greeting devotees on his way back to the airport.
The singer was in India for five concerts as part of Coldplay’s ‘Music of the Spheres’ World Tour. He performed two shows in Mumbai and three in Ahmedabad, setting a world record for the highest number of attendees at a Coldplay concert.
The Ahmedabad concert, held at Narendra Modi Stadium, was also the largest-ever ticketed concert hosted in India.
The concert, which took place on January 26, featured Chris Martin performing Maa Tujhe Salaam and Vande Mataram as part of the Republic Day celebrations.
