In a bid to further the interests of his state, Chattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel announced a slew of development work, including infrastructure to boost sports facilities in the state. He was speaking at a Bhent Mulaqat Abhiyan organized on Sunday at Mohan Lal Jain Government College in Bhilai Nagar Assembly constituency.
The series of Bhent-Mulaqat Abhiyan started on May 4 last year is modelled as an open-house between the CM and the masses. It has been devised to gather feedback directly rather than routing redressal of grievances through official channels.
Baghel proclaimed development works worth Rs 50 lakh in each ward of the constituency. The development tasks to be undertaken include proper arrangements for lighting, beautification of Civic Center, installation and beautification work of Chhattisgarh Mahtari in Bhilai Nagar area, beautification of Central Avenue Road and Forest Avenue Road, construction of domes, sheds at various places of Bhilai Nagar, asphalting and renovation work of internal road of Khursipar area, proper arrangement of lighting near Shaheed Virnarayan Singh Jayanti Stadium and construction of a sports academy in Bhilai Nagar.
He also declared work to begin on a Higher Secondary School in Sector 09. Further, the Congress strongman also waived the water tax for those who had tap connections between 2013 to 2019 but were left devoid of water supply. District in-charge minister, Mohammad Akbar and MLA Devendra Yadav, and other public representatives were also present on this occasion.
Reassuring people of his party’s commitment towards social welfare, Baghel proposed to lower electricity bills for houses built on BSP (Bahujan Samaj Party) land. Despite being entitled to all this while, people of the area were not benefitting the Half Electricity Bill Scheme.
Further, Baghel announced setting up of a garment factory and a BPO call centre in the constituency. “An amount of Rs 7 crore has been approved for the garments factory while the BPO centre, with a potential to employ 500 workers, will be set up at an outlay of Rs 5 crores,” stated the CM.
Realising the potential of the Chattisgarh youth in sports, he also announced the establishment of a new cricket stadium and a Sarva Samaj Nagrik Bhawan. “The children of Bhilai remain ahead in sports. We have allocated Rs 1.5 crore for the construction of a cricket stadium. Another Rs 3 crore will be put to use for construction of a Sarva Samaj Nagrik Bhawan. The Government ITI at Khursipar will henceforth function under Swami Atmanand Utsaksh ITI and will soon facilitate entrepreneurial trades,” he added.
