The Karyakar Survarna Mahotsav, marking 50 years of selfless service by Bochasanwasi Akshar Purshottam Sanstha (BAPS) volunteers, will culminate on December 7 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. One lakh volunteers will take part in the event.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will join the celebrations virtually. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel will attend the programme.
The inauguration of the Mahotsav took place on January 28, in Surat, marking the official start of the year-long celebrations honouring 50 years of selfless service by BAPS volunteers. The ceremony was graced by Mahant Swami Maharaj.
The theme of the celebration revolves around the concept of seeds, trees and fruits. Seeds symbolise the foundation of service, rooted in the teachings of the Gurus, marking the beginning of the volunteers’ spiritual journey. The tree represents the growth and expansion of their beliefs and the spreading of kindness through various social services. Fruits signify the results of tireless dedication—uplifting communities and spreading peace, harmony and love.
The event, scheduled from 5 pm to 8:30 pm, will be a visual spectacle with 2,000 performers, 30 projectors and 1,800 lights, ensuring an experience like no other. Brahma Vihari Swami, during the media conference Wednesday, emphasised that the event’s purpose is “not entertainment but enlightenment, not a show of strength but a gathering of gratefulness,” reflecting the deep spiritual and social values that the event aims to uphold.
What started with just 11 volunteers has blossomed into a global movement, now involving thousands of volunteers across India and 30 other countries.
BAPS is a large spiritual and social organization that follows the teachings of the Swaminarayan tradition. It has devotees and volunteers the world over.
