In a recent occurrence on Sindhu Bhavan Road, allegations of reckless driving emerged when three cars, including a Mercedes SUV and an Audi, collided around 3 a.m. on Monday. The driver, Rishit Patel, accused of involvement in the incident, has been apprehended by the police.
The collision transpired near SG Highway on Sindhu Bhawan Road, involving a speeding Mercedes that collided with two other cars. The Choksi family from South Bhopal, driving on Sindhu Bhavan Road around 3 a.m., experienced the impact as a result of a race between a Mercedes and an Audi, leading to loss of control and a subsequent collision. Despite the intensity of the collision, there were no major injuries or fatalities.
The incident’s severity is evident in CCTV footage showing sparks as the responsible car raced past. Rishit Patel, the Mercedes driver, abandoned the vehicle but was later captured by the police. His social media posts depicting a reckless lifestyle, including videos and photos of car racing, contributed to his arrest.
Facing allegations of driving at speeds of 150 to 200, Rishit Patel claimed he was attacked at the scene, his car’s speed was only 80, and he was not racing. He denied intoxication and offered to provide a blood sample for verification.
An investigation is underway, examining both the complainant’s allegations and the accused’s statement. Rishit Patel’s blood sample has been collected for intoxication testing, and a police report, assisted by the FSL, is being prepared to determine the actual speed of the car. Additionally, efforts are being made to obtain CCTV footage from the incident location and its surroundings.
Furthermore, it has been reported that the friends of the accused removed the number plates from the abandoned car involved in the accident.
