Three women from Gujarat’s Anand district died in a car accident in Greenville County, South Carolina, USA. The victims, identified as Rekhaben Patel, Sangitaben Patel and Manishaben Patel, lost their lives when their SUV veered off the road and plunged over a bridge.
The Greenville County Coroner’s Office reported that the SUV was traveling northbound on the highway when it swerved across all lanes, climbed an embankment and launched at least 20 feet into the air before colliding with trees on the opposite side of the bridge.
Chief Deputy Coroner Mike Ellis stated to news channel WSPA, “It is obvious they were traveling above the posted speed limit,” adding that no other vehicles were involved in the incident.
The wreckage of the car, found lodged in a tree and fragmented into multiple pieces, bore witness to the high-speed impact of the crash. “Very seldom do you see a vehicle that leaves the roadway at such a high rate of speed that it jumps 4-6 lanes of traffic and lands in the trees approximately 20 feet,” Ellis said, describing the severity of the accident.
Emergency response teams, including the South Carolina Highway Patrol, Gannt Fire and Rescue and several Greenville County EMS units, were immediately dispatched to the scene.
The sole survivor of the accident was reportedly injured and rushed to the hospital, with their condition currently unknown. The vehicle’s detection system alerted some family members about the crash, who then informed local authorities in South Carolina.
