Global sensation BTS will be headlining an international concert as the ambassadors to support the South Korean bid to host the 2030 Busan Expo, announced HYBE, on June 24. The city of Busan has reportedly signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the BTS label to promote the Expo.
According to reports, Busan, the second-largest city after Seoul in South Korea, has been pushing for its bid to host the 2030 World Expo. However, no update regarding the information is available yet.
In a statement, HYBE Chairman Bang Si-Hyuk said, “BTS and HYBE will do our best to host the World Expo 2030. It will be a great opportunity to contribute to further development of K-Culture and its local pop cultures.”
Mayor of the Busan Metropolitan City, Park Heong-Joon, thanked the band and its label for agreeing to be the ambassadors of the World Expo 2030 in Busan.
Furthermore, adding to his statement, the mayor said, “BTS as ambassadors will be incredibly helpful in stepping up our efforts to bring the World Expo to Busan.”
The previous Expo was in Dubai from October 1, 2021, to March 31, 2022. However, the organizers postponed the events in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
