Work for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High speed rail project is on the right track as National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) signed an agreement with a Joint Venture of IRCON International Ltd, a leading turnkey construction company under the Ministry of Railways, GOI and Ahmedabad based Dineshchandra R. Infracon Pvt Ltd.
They will design and build 18km of viaduct between Anand and Sabarmati which will include two HSR stations for the Bullet train in Ahmedabad and Sabarmati for Mumbai Ahmedabad High Speed Rail corridor.
The Sabarmati HSR station will be connected to the Sabarmati Passengers Hub and hence will offer greater connectivity to the passengers. With natural light and water conservation arrangements,they will be made environment friendly.
A press release from the NHSRCL stated,”Mumbai Ahmedabad High Speed Rail will traverse through Western Railway’s Ahmedabad Junction Railway Station and shall be integrated with the Saraspur side of the existing Ahmedabad station. Ahmedabad HSR station will be built over the existing railway platform no. 11 & 12.”
On the east side of the current Railway station, integrated transit is planned which will enable passengers to switch from one facility to another. This building will have state of the art facilities for the passengers.
