On Tuesday morning, the administration began a demolition campaign in Gujarat’s Himmatnagar. A bulldozer arrived to demolish illegal structures in the same area where a fight broke out about 15 days ago on Ram Navami.
Fearing the administration, the locals started demolishing the building before the bulldozer arrived. On Monday, residents were notified of the demolition drive.
According to officials, shops and other structures in the area are being demolished in order to widen the roads.
The events in Himmatnagar are similar to what occurred in Delhi last week. A few days after a communal clash erupted in Jahangirpuri on April 16, the local civic body launched a demolition drive in the area.
