As many as 40 airports, mostly in the US, followed an unexplained trend Friday. The regulatory office for each airport posted pictures of flights against their respective backdrop and tagged the boy band. Captions were used from popular BTS numbers. After this, it wasn’t just one or two more tweets, but what felt like an absolute barrage of airports from around the world joining in on the fun. From Sydney to Paris, Chicago and more, airports in major cities all over the globe turned purple on Twitter and tweeted different BTS lyrics to go with smooth landings and gorgeous skies.
The latest to hop on to the trend is Delhi International Airport, which tweeted the lyrics “Cause I-I-I’m in the stars tonight” from the BTS’ 2021 hit “Dynamite.”
All this led to the BTS ARMY wondering: could all these happenings perhaps be a massive hint signaling BTS’ world tour? With BTS recently announcing their upcoming release scheduled for June 10, fans are hoping that the ongoing “Airport Twitter” fun is actually an indication of the septet visiting their countries on tour. If this hope were to come true, with Delhi’s International Airport’s participatory tweet, would the BTS finally tour India?
Now ARMY, needless to say, has been kept chattering about a possible world tour. It is still unclear if the airports have merely used the BTS popularity to soar higher on the clicks. Bangtan Sonyeondan, globally known as BTS, is a name to reckon with and merely tagging it, leads to an unexpected number of visitors on social media pages.
For instance, Reagan Airport, the national airport in Arlington, Virginia, posted a picture of an American Airlines flight and used the lyrics of BTS’ song “Airplane Pt.2.”
Orlando International Airport shared an amazing shot of an airplane flying right over the moon. The caption with the picture read, “Moonchild, you shine.” Moonchild is a song by BTS member, RM.
Denver airport did not have a picture of the flight but the entire airport itself. “Let’s break our plans and live just like we are golden,” read the caption, mirroring the lyrics from the song “Permission to Dance.”
Next came the Atlanta airport with a picture of a flight taking off beside the airport control tower. In the caption, they wrote, “Like an arrow in the blue sky.” Atlanta airport used the lyrics from the song “Life Goes On.”
