Police Bust Novel Way Of Bootlegging, Camouflaged As Chemical Trade From Goa

Unscrupulous elements are continuously finding novel ways to profit from the lucrative illegal trade of alcohol in dry Gujarat. In one such case, Vadodara native Shankar More , 40, has been held by the police along with his associates when police seized the liquor worth Rs.27 lacs hidden inside containers of chemicals at Mahidharpura , Surat.. The containers marked as carrying aloe vera gel, were stocking half the area with contraband Indian made foreign Liquor bottles.

The liquor was hidden below a thermocol sheet in the plastic containers with gel on the top, covered with a cap and sealed with metal lead.

Sankar More, known to police for a variery of criminal cases in Vadodara, had shifted his operation first to Surat and recently to Goa, where he registered himself as businessman dealing in chemical products. He even secured GST number for his business and started supplying liquor in containers meant for chemicals.

Police were surpised at bootleger Shankar More going to the extent of locating himself in a different state in a full fleged manner.

Police also arrested More’s associates, Jignesh Dabheliya and Sanjay Karnik for their allege involvement in the crime. Dabheliya, who first met More as a PASA detainee in a rajkot jail, also registered himself as a chemical businessman and rented a warehouse near vasta devdi road to stock of illicit liquor.
