The Bombay High Court will today hear the bail plea of Superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s son, Aryan Khan in the Mumbai cruise drug case. The 23-year-old has been in Arthur Jail of Mumbai since October 8 and has been denied bail twice till now. He will be represented by Advocate Mukul Rohatgi in the court.
Mumbai’s special NDPS court had rejected his bail application on October 20. Justice VV Patil had also rejected the bail pleas of Arbaaz Merchant and Moonmoon Dhamecha – the other two accused in the case. Aryan’s 14-day judicial custody ended on October 21 and the court then extended his custody until October 30.
The recent development in the case, Prabhakar Sail – a witness alleged Sameer Wankhede, senior Narcotics Bureau (NCB) Official, of being involved in collusion and Rs 8 crore payoff for the case on Sunday. Sameer Wankhede has denied allegations and any such wrongdoing saying that he would give “a fitting reply”. The NCB director has, however, has marked a vigilance inquiry into the matter.
Also, the case has stirred a political involvement with the Maharashtra government accusing the NCB of working on the orders from the Centre.
Also, NCP leader Nawab Malik has alleged forgery linked to Sameer Wankhede’s birth document. However, Sameer Wankhede hit back in a release saying that it was an “unnecessary invasion” of his family’s privacy, adding it was “intended to malign me, my family, my father, and my late mother”.
