The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Gujarat will mark its victory in the Lok Sabha general elections on June 4, the results day, in a very simple manner.
The State party general secretary, Rajnibhai Patel, has issued a letter instructing the cadres to celebrate the victory in a very simple and restrained manner. These instructions are in connection with the Rajkot TRP game zone fire incident in which 28 persons died.
This decision was taken after a virtual meeting with state party chief C R Patil and general secretary (organisation) Ratnakar on May 31.
The party workers have been told not to burst crackers outside the counting centres, party offices, and other public places. They have been told not to arrange for or exchange sweets, nor to shower flower petals or ‘gulal’ colour.
Further, the party workers are instructed not to hold processions in open jeeps or similar vehicles and to refrain from organising victory processions with dhol and DJ sound systems.
The party will not decorate its offices with lighting or other items. Felicitation functions after victory will be avoided.
