Over 1500 political leaders have joined the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today, in Gujarat. The new members were inducted in a grand ceremony held at the state party headquarters, Kamalam, in the state capital. All the new entrants donned the saffron cap and scarf, symbolic of the BJP, in the presence of the state party chief, CR Patil.
The event saw many district and taluka-level Congress leaders switching their allegiance to the ruling party. Notable among them were Indrajitsinh Thakor, former MLA from Mahudha; Dr. Vipul Patel, former Sabarkantha Congress President; Sudhirbhai Patel, former president of Youth Congress and Himmat Nagar Marketing Yard; Vinodbhai Chaudhary, former President of Kheralu Taluka Congress; and JitendraSinh Parmar of Congress, among others.
During the function, CR Patil lauded Prime Minister Modi, stating, “For the first time in the country, we have a political leader whose words and guarantees hold value, and he is from Gujarat; that is a matter of pride for us.”
Patil further highlighted the recent celebrations of the Pran Pratishtha at Ayodhya. “Two days ago, the whole environment was imbued with devotion to Lord Ram, not just in the country but all around the world. Hindus celebrated by bursting crackers, making rangolis, distributing prasad, and hosting bhandaras. It all shows that people’s expectation that Lord Ram’s temple shall be made on Janmabhoomi has been fulfilled by PM Modi.”
He also noted the high turnout at Ayodhya despite the cold wave, stating, “Yesterday, 5 lakh people visited Ayodhya, which speaks volumes about the devotion in the people.”
In his welcome address to the new members, Patil assured, “We will move forward together, and by strengthening Gujarat, we will strengthen the country.”
